Serpentine shouldn't create a .serpentine folder. According to fd.o specification, it should put user preferences in $XDG_CONFIG_HOME. Any user data should go to $XDG_DATA_HOME. I only see the list of used channels belonging to this folder. Any cache stuffs should go to $XDG_CACHE_HOME More infos : http://standards.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/latest/ar01s03.html The reason why I'm reporting this bug : http://ploum.frimouvy.org/?184-cleaning-user-preferences-keeping-user-data

When inserting a blank CD-R in a burner, the user is asked what he want to do with it. If he choose to burn an audio CD-R, serpentine is started. When the user start the burning process, serpentine will try to use the peripheral selected in its preferences, which may not be the one where he inserted his blank CD-R if more than one burner are available. This results in a confusing message which asks to insert a blank CD-R in the drive. prerequisites: 1. Have an system running gnome with more than one drive capable of writing to optical media. steps to reproduce: 1. Insert a blank CD-R disc in the drive not selected in serpentine preferences 2. Select the option 'Make an Audio CD' in the dialog box that appears 3. Add tracks to the burn play-list 4. Start to burn the disc 5. Serpentine will check only the disc drive selected in the preferences, and if there is no disc there it will show and error potentially confusing to the user.

Hi, when I make a cd I miss the feature of letting us playback the files in serpentine. It's essential when you disable the 2-second gap and use the disc- at-once mode to see if the clapping at the end of a track blends to the next track.

Currently there is a class named 'HintsFilter'. This class has the an attribute named 'priority' and method named 'filter_location'. This class should be hidden from the visible API and the signature of the 'MetadataRetriever' should have an 'add_hints_filter(priority, func)', where the 'func' may throw 'serpentine.errors.UnsupportedLocationError' and accepts one argument the 'location'. This also affects the signature of 'serpentine.Application.add_hints_filter'.

When I'm adding numerous files and some of them are VBR they will take a bit to finish, since they are only added after they are processed the order will be wrong.

This bug report has been forwarded from https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/serpentine/+bug/55228 """ Several times now I've been caught out when burning audio CDs with serpentine. It does not set it's disc capacity setting automatically to match the disc that is inserted, but it also does not provide any warning or indication that the user should set this manually. The setting is right there on the front of the GUI, but there's nothing saying I should set it myself, and I don't expect to have to, so I don't notice it. If you burn an audio CD with the disc capacity set wrong in Serpentine, it fails. It makes a coaster. Doesn't play in either hifi or computer. Worse, it took me several attempted burns, and attempting to use Gnomebaker instead, before I realised what was happening. """ Tiago has commented on the downstream bug report previously
