OpenSolaris OS/Net

  • Q: I'd like to participate. How do I begin?

    • 0

You can start by dowloading the latest developer build from http://www.genunix.org/dist/indiana. For information on how to compile OpenSolaris from source, check the Developer's Reference at http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+on/devref_toc. OpenSolaris has two bug tracking systems: http://bugs.opensolaris (OS/Net) and http://defect.opensolaris.org. Some bugs are tagged 'oss-bite-size' and should be easy to work on. You can submit code-related questions to the opensolaris-code mailing list. A list of all mailing lists is available at http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo. Besides the mailing lists, make sure to bookmark http://planet.opensolaris.org (RSS aggregator) and, if you feel like chatting, join the #opensolaris channel at irc.freenode.net

Noob question: How do we make bug fixes, test them and then submit those fixes?

Many projects have good small tasks that can teach newcomers how the project works. Now's your chance to share one of them!

Include URLs if relevant (we'll automatically linkify them).

      • Example:
